MIDTERM reports are due WEDNESDAY!!

MIDTERM report due OCTOBER 6

This is a reminder that you must post a midterm report of what you've learned so far in practicum this term. Please check the syllabus for more details. Those who are taking the 2000-level course, you have something different to do--check the syllabus on the portal for instructions.

This MUST be posted by 5pm October 6 or you'll receive a 10-point deduction in your grade for each day after 5pm next Wednesday. (In other words, if you post it at 5:30 on October 6, it's still 10 points off).

Here are some opportunities for you to earn some practicum hours. We need people to help construct/paint/arrange the new set.

Tuesday, September 7--3:30-7pm

Friday, September 10-- 1pm-4pm

Saturday, September 11--8am-1pm

The general meetings of the different programs and activities allowed for practicum are as follows:

Interlachen (student yearbook/video yearbook)--Wednesdays at noon in Chatlos 105

Wellness TV--Mondays at 4:30 in DuBose Room at Thrift Alumni (near Career Center)

Southern Sports Network--Wednesdays at 5 pm in broadcast studio

We're also going to have some opportunities working on video stories for the News Media Projects class. I'll keep you updates about these.

WE'RE REBUILDING THE SET! Our studio is under massive remodeling, and we're going to need MANY practicum students to come in and help paint and dress the new set. Food will be provided, and you can count these hours towards your 36-hour work requirement.

Post your practicum work!

Sorry about the confusion! I'll have news and sorts about practicum on this page as well as on the portal. I suggest you bookmark this site on your Web browsers. It's hard for me to e-mail all sections of practicum, especially since the mass e-mail goes to Dr. Trice's students (and I don't have control over that).

First and foremost, you'll need to create your own blog on blogger. Go to http://www.blogger.com and follow the "sign up" directions. After that, you can "follow" me if you want, but PLEASE comment on this post with your blog address. And include your name, please. I can't decipher your names sometimes from your e-mail addresses or a cryptic blog address.

Again, you need to submit a blog entry of your practicum hours as you accrue them. You'll need to do them in a timely fashion. In other words, if you work September 6 for 5 hours, I don't want to see you blogging about these hours on September 19. I would suggest you keep a weekly log and submit your weekly hours every Wednesday. Therefore, if you work for the sports show on September 1, you'd blog about what you did, who you worked with, and how much time you spent there ON or BEFORE September 9.

If you sign up to attend a shoot or other production, we're relying on you being there. If you aren't there, you will lose class participation points.
